That is pretty much what my mother did when my brother ran her 20 years seasoned cast iron skillet through the dishwasher. He was pissed off about having to clean up after his (very yummy) homemade onion rings but he was a short-sighted teenager, obviously.

Shrug. A little shortening, a 375 oven for an hour or two, let it air cool and you’ll be fine. People act like cast iron is fragile or something.
