If that’s so, those were some really stupid pirates.

I still wonder, however, how it is that they were able to force Capt. Phillips back in the boat after he jumped out on his escape attempt. One would have thought that the moment he hit the water, the pirates would experience immediate dissuasion from poking their heads above the gunwales, much less firing at the escapee.

The pirates really had few choices, no choices, against a commander who was going to act.

But that same commander was apparently plain not ready, when Phillips jumped out. At that point I believe they were not nearly as close, and by the sound of it, other plans were afoot.
