That aspect captivates me. Mars is Earth-like enough to imagine standing on the surface — with the right suit. The banner image I use on my blog is a sunset on Mars, but you could mistake it for an Earth setting.

It’s incredible, truly. Growing up, when all we had were a few scattered shots from the Viking landers and, later, some orbital mapping photos, it looked so alien and terrifying. Spirit, Opportunity, and Curiosity have really brought the red planet closer to our level.
