ARRA (the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) got me a job in 2009. I started working for a company that administered COBRA, and needed additional people to deal with the large uptick in layoffs and with the ARRA subsidy that helped laid-off workers get a huge break on their medical insurance costs. With coverage for a family on COBRA running from $1000-$2000 per MONTH — and pre-existing conditions still a major problem pre-ACA — that was a literal lifesaver. I hope some of the people who were helped remember that.

It provided for the extra training needed that got Mr BWS the really great job that he has now (and he was an unemployed over-50 worker at the time). We certainly will not forget what a wonderful thing ARRA did for us.
