The hiring committee at a major publicly traded company doesn’t typically just call someone up and say “hey, we’re looking for a new senior Vice President of legal affairs, want the gig?” There is a process that involves multiple interviews and negotiations, and someone who took a high ranking job at the DOJ in the last year isn’t typically someone who makes the list. I don’t know what is happening with this, but it seems very strange

It strikes me as odd because I know lawyers have their specific specialties and how similar are these jobs? A DOJ attorney would seem to have real different experience than a corporate attorney. Does a DOJ attorney regardless of how smart and talented have the experience a corporation like WalMart would look for at that level?
