It’s sad that Russia left communism behind only to embrace authoritarianism. It has never been a democracy.

A large percentage of Americans also embrace authoritarianism: why do you think much of white America (not all of us, of course!) praise the idea of a businessman as President? Most CEO’s are autocrats who expect their wishes to be followed and who fire those who publicly dissent. The best CEO’s welcome internal discussions but even they will react badly if anyone takes these disagreements public. When it comes to free speech, there are no first amendment rights in corporate America.
