How familiar are you with deep neural network models and the progress made in the past few years? Facebook is actually driving much of the cutting edge AI research with their PyTorch library; one of the few beneficial things they’re doing.

The difference between a bank and Facebook is *reliability*. When you’re playing with Other People’s Money, people tend to come completely unglued if they can’t virtually fondle it at any time, day or night. Facebook has stresses on it (see people losing their shit when FB was down a few weeks ago), but I can guarantee you it is not processing well over a trillion dollars of transactions in a number of different channels every day. The biggest banks are. We’re not going to be bringing in neural nets and AI until it’s been broken and broken and broken and finally proven to be reliable. That’s not right now. Heck, we’re just now taking baby steps into the cloud.
