I get the “blame M$” meme, but I’ve been around long enough I don’t really buy it. Not least, I’ve had problems with CP/M and *nix of various sorts. Heck, notice that of the five disasters Varek , only one is M$. Not mentioned is the noteworthy (though less expensive) error - the mars probe that had a little problem with math due to metric/imperial measurement confusion.

Fully tested, I have no problem with M$ in mission critical roles.

I think it’s more because on systems non-Microsoft, much of the time, you have a chance of fixing the issue yourself. With Microsoft, there is absolutely nothing you can do save calling their support and praying.
