Where’s the outrage?

The article is mostly an accurate analysis of how currently fucked-up the wealth disparity in the US—and the world—is, despite the overall increase in productivity and living standards under capitalism. It puts it in moral terms, that current capitalism is essentially immoral. It talks about Brooks endorsing direct welfare rather than a rise in the minimum wage—I think that he’s wrong to oppose the minimum wage hike, but endorsing direct welfare is cool.

What in the article is outrageous, exactly?
