We now interrupt this broadcast for an unscheduled off-topic message: it is March 25, and the roads on the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park are bone dry, with an alarming small amount of snow to be seen. Trail Ridge Road is still closed, at least, but the signs at Bear Lake have been changed from
“The ice is beginning to melt and thin: if you try to walk on it, you may fall in”
to
“…you WILL fall in.”

This is not a good thing. Not that the scenery wasn’t lovely, but it’s supposed to be a lot whiter at this time of the year.

Oh, and I turned 61 today. This is not a good thing either.
The spousal unit who turned 62 in February was able to buy his lifetime parklands pass for $10. I’ve heard they are expecting to raise the rate to $80 later this year, but the pass gets you into every recreational facility run by six or seven Federal agencies, including national parks, national monuments, BLM site, et alia. It’s still a bargain.

We now return you to politics, music, pizza, puns and whatever other shenanigans are in progress, while I go back and try to catch up on the last two threads.
