I think both sidesism is an attempt by people to try to appear above partisan politics when it really just makes them look ignorant.

It’s popular because it’s easy. Unearthing the facts takes effort. Too many people fall into the belief that ‘the truth is in the middle’. That may have been true once, but not anymore.
