this is actually great. it means mortality rates are significantly lower than reported. If it turns out that this is twice as deadly as the flu, rather than ten times, that MIGHT mean we can modify our approach down the road to protecting the most vulnerable while allowing, with some due measures of safety, like effective spacing, random spot testing, etc., society and the economy to actually reopen again.

It’s very unlikely that mortality rates are only twice as deadly as the flu. Look at South Korea, which has first world medicine and did everything right including extensive contact tracing. Its mortality rate is 1.7% (and climbing), where about 3900 of their 10,000 cases are not yet resolved. So, for them, the CFR is 17 x seasonal flu. It will be far worse here.

The 9+% in certain first world countries may reflect under-reporting, as well as overrun health care systems.
