I tend to ignore statements made by those who resort to those tactics, or minimally take their claims and statements under much greater scrutiny. Demonizing an opponent is not addressing the issue, or even attempting a useful exchange of ideas and viewpoints. It’s essentially poisoning the well in advance and attempting to “win” via an emotional appeal.
