It’s because “granola” has just become a magic word for marketing whatever crunchy food someone wants to sell. Originally the word was to signify roasted grains used for human consumption, but given the human propensity to believe in magic the word has subsequently been used to market just about anything.

Yeah, actually, the chocolate dipped granola bars make me wince.
