It’s really annoying. Honestly, I argue the Civil Rights era as liberalism versus conservatism. I can think of many prominent liberals- both Republicans and Democrats from that time who favored Civil Rights and likewise I can think of many prominent conservatives from both parties who opposed Civil Rights. That’s the real way to drive the right wing off the wall on the issue. They don’t like it being pointed out that their ideology was okay with legalized and state sanctioned racism but then again, they push shit like that while at the same time embracing loons like Rand Paul who has said on the record that he would have voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
