re: #15 Hecuba’s daughter

A girl friend and I saw it today. Original, amazing, a fairy tale for adults, but not for everyone, especially those who do not enjoy fantasy. I also have to confess that I averted my gaze to avoid certain scenes of violence and brutality.

We did too. But you know, that’s the “adult” part of it. That kind of raw violence is a real thing in our world and must be acknowledged. Look, or not look, it’s real. I also loved the fact that it was set in 1962, and brought the “win at all costs” mentality of Dr. Strangelove in as a flavor to the plot. Brilliant piece of film making, we thought. Just blubbered at times. Just thunderstruck at the imagery and sense of wonder at others. Oh, and the casting and acting were just killer bee.
