Yes and the American Right vowed that there would never be another MLK coming out of a church. Which is why in the infamous Powell memorandum they outlined what would eventually become the Christian Coalition and Moral Majority which was initially funded by the Right Wing Hunt family in Texas, The Coors in Colorado and Richard Mellon Scaife in Pennsylvania.

I agree but I don’t think the religious right should influence or force our positions on faith just as militant atheist regimes should not be allowed to slander all non believers as being akin to Mao, Stalin, or Pol Pot.
