The GOP's 'Kobayashi Maru' Problem

Somewhat related: We are now hearing a lot from the Republicans about demographics, and the corollary of “Hispanics are natural Republican voters”. I am not Hispanic, and I’m lily white so I don’t speak from personal knowledge, but it seems to me the Republicans may have missed something. Yes, Hispanics tend to be hardworking, family oriented, small business owning folks (presumably when they aren’t sneaking over the border to have anchor babies.) Being largely Catholic they’re probably anti-abortion. Judging from the size of families I see, I suspect they may not pay as much attention to the birth control prohibition.

But it seems to me the Republicans are missing where Hispanics are not “natural Republicans”-social services, education, caring for their neighbors and trusting the government to help with these things. For example, I heard that Hispanics supported our Prop 30 which raised taxes on high earners AND raised the sales tax, so it hits both ends of the economic spectrum to keep the state’s education, social services, etc. afloat.

Seem to me the GOP is once again missing the problem.
