I have to argue that, he wasn’t the “best,” just the last man standing. If Citizens United did one thing for this election, it was allow Romney to plow under the competition and now even break a sweat.

Also remember that it was an election that involved an incumbent not facing a primary challenge. Thus many of the top GOP potential candidates did not run.
