I look at the racist right, and I think, like Theoden, “What can men do against such reckless hate?”

But then I look at the middle, and I think, “What can men do against such facile apathy?”

Historically, something really big like War, Pestilence, Famine steps in and creates a cultural ‘reset’. So, it’s not really hopeless.
