Honestly, most of it seems to be a fascination with a different perspective. Americans don’t have royalty. Even our “elites” are just rich snobbish assholes; they’re not generally hereditary lines. The idea of British royalty, the long history of the royal family, the throwbacks to a bygone age.

Yeah I guess that’s why and I guess why we choose to get fascinated by the Brits is our shared language and history with them. It was funny seeing my grandmother and sister in law, who are pretty different in many ways absolutely agreeing about their indifference to the Royals.
