That’s what chaps my backside about David Brooks: I think that HE certainly knows better about a lot of the facile “analysis” he spews out, but just assumes that his readership doesn’t: but is merely going to accept his conclusions because he’s this Great Conservative Intellectual; and arguments-from-authority by GCIs is what “upscale” RW punditry is supposed to be about.
I’d forgotten Brooks was a protegé of William F. Buckley: it really shows sometimes…
