(The reason I asked in the first place is that I’m always fascinated when I see “H—l” and “D—n” in older texts.)

I think that, in some cultures, profanity and blasphemous cursing is actually worse than scatological and sexual cursing.

Like, in French Canada, the worst thing you can say is tabarnac!
