A good point but I’ve seen other protests turn into police riots with very little provocation. There’s also a disconnect between the fearlessness I’ve seen in leftist protestors when confronting police vs an unwillingness today to really fuck up the alt right neo nazis. I don’t think this is a new status quo however, but will instead devolve further. If the cops don’t demonstrate a readiness to really step in then the future will see the unstable elements on both sides feeling an increasing mandate to show up armed for real battle.
