I was convinced very early in the campaign that tr*mp was both a malignant narcissist and a sociopath. Since then, I’ve come to believe he is a true psychiatric solipsist.

In tr*mp’s world, there is only one human being. Himself. Everyone else is at best a projection on a screen or a device to interact with. His method of dealing with his crowds of mindless supporters is pure Pavlovian stimulus-response. He knows from past experience how to get approval from this source of stimulus, and his real political talent is in obsessively focusing on crowd feedback in real time to get as much pleasure from this essentially masturbatory process as possible.

This is exactly true. Pretending that there is any plan or forward thinking in Trump’s worldview is just projection of normal human thoughts onto him. No such thoughts exist in his mind.
