re: #164 Citizen K
The most depressing thing I keep taking away is just howâŚnot new this is. This shit wasnât just created. Just brought out into the open. This racism has existed and fostered and festered. JustâŚnow there doesnât seem to be much reason to hide it or even code it anymore. And we only went maybe a couple of decades where it wasnât ok to outright let the freak flag fly before reverting back to the mean.
It feels like this is just what America is, and always will be, no matter how hard itâs fought. America IS Racism, and trying to change it will just eventually get you swallowed up by the hate and spite that truly defines it, forever.
I canât get on twitter, so I canât find the exact quote, but it went something like âRacism is so much a part of America that when you attack racism, people think youâre attacking America.â Yes, racism is part of America, and I donât think weâll ever get rid of it. But then again, Germany has outlawed Nazism and yet it still thrives.
Not to sound clichey, but it will always be about the journey, because we will never reach the destination.
