I was raised Catholic in the 80s, don’t really remember any women (besides nuns) wearing head coverings at mass. Then again the Catholic school I went to back then, we only had one nun as a teacher and one as principal (she was one of those beer drinking, swearing nuns).

Yeah, like I said it started thinning out into the 70’s. Many in our church kept it up, many younger women didn’t. Even by mid 70’s my mom had quit doing it. But grandma did it till the day she died, as did many of her friends in the church. Plus the hat and veil thing was a fashion statement for many of them (and I am sure a bit of competition).
