I heard from one of my brother’s, when I was still in contact with the middle one, that our childhood barber was shitting upon me for not attending Dad’s funeral. My youngest brother flew out from here as my representative, because I was just not up to dealing with the funeral, reconciling last traumatic experiences, and putting on a pleasant facade in front of a stepfamily who had very much rubbed me the wrong way on previous holiday visits.

Dad had tried to make amends after Mom died, but it was much too late. The damage was done long ago.

One nice thing about being disowned by all your Christian relatives is they won’t invite you to funerals or bash you for not attending.
