I have no doubt that the bigots complaining about these children would have been on the frontline of trying to deny refugees from Germany in the early 30’s safe entry. No doubt whatsoever.

It’s not OUR problem! Let their own people deal with them!

Varian’s War was a pretty good TV movie exploration of the attitudes back then in America.
