Some of the fence-sitters in my circle of acquaintances are trying to float the “civil unions” idea again in wake of SCOTUS’ decision not to decide, with the usual blather about “getting the government out of the marriage business.”

We need to simplify our legal system according to the RWNJs but hospitals and probate courts should have deal with a different power-of-attorney and estate setups for every single married person?
