re: #156 Bass Reeves

Step one would probably be a national voting day holiday, where if you are low income, you can afford to take the time off work (prolly require tax incentive to employer from the govt) to go vote. Fund the tax incentive from some of those impressively high campaign war chests.

Step two would be to successfully overturn all of the Republican attempts to prevent young and low income people (and minorities) from voting.

We don’t need a voting day holiday; just make it 10 days of voting, 8am to 8pm, and I’m pretty sure everybody can get there.

Also, a new VRA that considers things like having the ratio of machines to registered voters be the same for every congressional district within a state; those 5 hour lines at urban precincts (when it’s 20 minutes in the burbs) do as much damage as voter ID or any other disenfranchisement. (also… ex-cons who’ve done their sentence, finished with parole, shouldn’t have to jump through a lot of hoops to get their vote back. Even felons. If their sentence has been fully served, it’s been fully served, and they get to be treated like citizens again.)
