re: #166 HappyWarrior

I’m old enough to remember when opposition to abortion except in cases of rape and incest was the extent of how anti-choice R’s would be outside some really then fringy types like Alan Keyes. The Anti-Choice movement has grown more radical with time.

Sadly, it’s another of those items that we can hold our generation responsible for, another set of rights that our generation won’t fight for because it grew up taking them for granted and has no knowledge of a world without them. To women of our generation, the idea that RvW could be overturned and abortion (if not contraceptives) banned outright is impossible, they assume that the status quo can’t change because it’s been this way since before they were born. So they won’t fight for it, they won’t vote to support those who will, they just assume that it’s all talk and nothing will change.

I fear that by the time our brethren fully wise up, two generations of social progress will have been overridden and will take another two generations to win back.
