re: #171 Targetpractice

So this moron thinks “enemies of the state” is now a form of criticism? That if he were labeled an “enemy of the state,” he’d take it as a criticism towards himself and work to fix whatever caused the criticism? There’s a reason that the phrase “enemy of the state” has negative connontations in most cultures across the globe, and it’s not because it’s a form of criticism.

It’s more insidious than that, because he said “enemy of the American people,” i.e. the same people whose popular vote he lost. His dangerous populism and open desire to only serve the minority who voted for him have resulted in subtly de-legitimizing the rest of us as “real” Americans. That was absolutely on purpose and part of the nascent narrative he’s forming that casts all dissent as treason against “the people” and seeks to empower his supporters to see protests as an existential threat and to respond to them with brutal violence.
