I think Putin is into dividing the West. He seems to like secessionist movements, anti immigrant, anti EU, anti trade.

Instead of divide and conquer, Putin seems to have modified it a bit and made it divide and weaken. I think he believes creating chaos in the west gives him more shade to do Putin things.

He struck big when Trump took the U.S. Presidency and The U.K. went with Brexit.

I’m sure Germany is in his sights big time.
