If the Killian memos were planted, they could have created a much more convincing forgery by using a manual typewriter. That’s what a ratfucker would do. This was strictly amateur hour.

But the point was to get caught. A great forgery would have been mistaken for the real thing. CBS failed in their due diligence, but the point of the topic was to change the subject from Bush’s service to people denigrating Bush’s service.
