How is it that two decades after going into Afghanistan, we still haven’t figured out any sort of diplomatic/nation building strategy?

Read a history of Afghanistan and all will become clear. Going in there with any intentions beyond chasing down Bin Laden was as big a mistake as invading Iraq.
