re: #168 Love-Child of Cassandra and Sisyphus
Nope.
All of life is about maneuvering around your fellow humans.
Of course the Republicans will try to besmirch any nominee.
But right now the problem in the US is that after 70+ years of constant ideological warfare (by the religious right) the American voters are programmed to respond to certain catch phrases.
Sen. Kennedy knows this of course, as do all successful politicians at that level.
Kennedy and his ilk donāt really care about the candidateās youth activities. And they also donāt really care about her shoplifting arrest.
All they care about is triggering their base.
And unfortunate for us, weāre now looking at a scenario in which half of the US voters are on the verge of going headlong into some sort of far right dystopia.
All of American politics is a war for the muddled middle.
That the GOP Senators have successfully blocked so many Biden nominees, for example, is totally missed on the average voter. Because they donāt care about those kinds of things.
But run a headline that says BIDEN NOMINATES FORMER COMMUNIST PARTY MEMBER and all of a sudden youāll get attention of at least some voters.
You have already lost when you cede this kind of power to the far right to pre-choose your own cabinet.
