That’s not to say that this isn’t a cynical move by Dems designed for purely political advantage and it’s unsavory in its own ways.

I’m not sure if it is a cynical move by the Democrats. If you were a Democrat politician, receiving death threats in emails and phone calls, wouldn’t you want to see your party taking some proactive measures to insure your safety? I think this is a sincere effort of the Democratic leadership in trying to prevent the possibilities of what could happen next. It’s frightening.
