I mean…in all honesty? A lot of us knew about Putin. The only problem was before ‘16, we thought he was just relegated to a regional strongman, a dictator who could be contained and eventually counteracted. We never envisioned that a significant portion of our own country would be willing to sell their souls to him for the sake of power.
