The Xians being snitched on are the ones who have “home churches,” which are gatherings outside the state-approved “official” churches. It’s not an exaggeration. The CCP does not trust any organization not directly controlled by the CCP.

That was one of the issues that Rome had with the early Christians; not that they were practicing their faith, but that they were doing it secretly in the catacombs.
