I’ve said for some time now that France is taking the lead due to their historic ties to the Levant (including Lebanon and Syria) so it’s not exactly surprising that they might have boots on the ground - special forces potentially trying to meet up with FSA leadership and/or coordinating activities.

Also, not surprising that the French foreign ministry says no troops on the ground while the French defense ministry says they can’t confirm or deny. Those are SOP talking points when the government can’t or wont respond.
