The GOP became terrified that a normal working goverment would cut into their business model of gutting and looting every damn thing that works and serves people. Thus they became the Party Of Nothing But No And Only Us, Fuck You, Die.

Their model and motto is “Tough shit if you weren’t born well off.” I’m old enough to remember a time when Republicans actually tried to better public education. I may not have agreed with the methods but they at least wanted to improve the system.
