I am not much more comforted by the thought that the GOP DOES recognize the threat, and effectively takes him out (impeachment or otherwise) and leaves us with Pence.

Pence doesn’t want to be Dictator of the whole world, but I do think he has wet dreams about a “Christian Nation”.

Of course he does. The Handmaid’s Tale is his utopia. The past 15 years of screaming & fearmongering about creeping Sharia and a Muslim 5th column infiltrating the U.S. (not to mention the more recent absurd claims of Christian persecution) was part distraction—SQUIRREL!—and part dislike of Islam being the “wrong” religion’s law.
