For all of Gorsuch’s faults, he is still a Circuit Court Judge. Judges really do not like it when Congress or the Executive branch try to influence them or otherwise attack them. Our system of government has worked, in large part and with very few exceptions, because both the Executive and the Legislature are willing to be bound by the decisions of the Judiciary. Likewise, the Judiciary has developed the Political Question Doctrine in order to allow the other two branches some latitude in how they handle certain matters. No matter how right wing a judge or Justice is, they are not going to take kindly to one of the other branches trying to marginalize them.
