By the way, there’s also nothing especially dangerous about looking directly at an eclipse, because it’s ALWAYS a bad idea to look directly at the sun, and that’s no different during an eclipse.
I seem to remember being told that a total eclipse can be more dangerous, because you’re looking at a dark object with an really bright halo, so your pupils adjust to the darkness but the corona still burns your retinas.
Mind you, this could be bullshit.
