So is our conclusion that we can’t rely on the military to tell the truth about small things, or that we can’t rely on the military to tell the truth about anything? Are we forced to pray for some Reality Winner or Chelsea Manning to save us?

A healthy distrust of institutions is always a good thing. Or as the old proverb goes, “trust but verify.”
