True, but Hewitt isn’t incorrect regarding PM May’s omnishambles of a government. I’ve asked the same question myself when I read the British press and the latest hijinks out of 10 Downing Street.
I figure it’s simply because no one else in the Tory party really wants the job of PM, so they’re content to let her soldier on - if it all goes belly up (or “pear-shaped”, to use a bit of British vernacular), she makes for a convenient scapegoat.
Because god forbid someone like…ugh…Boris Johnson get a crack at the wheel. I don’t think even the Tories want to risk giving him more air at that point.
