You aren’t reading the Gnostic gospels. The apostles referred to Mary Magdeline as the disciple who Jesus kissed on the mouth often. They were even a little put off by the fact that He spent so much time sharing his knowledge with a woman.
Early Church leaders in the second century made that little item disappear from the canon and portrayed her as a prostitute. Something the Catholics later renounced under Gregory but not until the notion became popular myth.
Actually I am aware of the alternative Gospels. I was just pointing out that this fellow aught not go around comparing himself to Jesus.
