They may very well be “surveyor markers”. I can vaguely recall maybe that symbol when I did alot of CAD work in college. However when you place these symbols on a political map and talk of reloading and all the other crap you have made that symbol your own.

Either way they sure as shit aren’t registration marks, or “crop marks” (lol) as instapundit calls them. Registration marks are, as a rule, off the edge of the page, and get trimmed off the final product.
