Back in 2002 I was extremely upset by Bush’s rush to war. I knew it would turn out to be a disaster, as did anyone who knew shit. Therapist said “Think about the French farmer just standing in his field as the Nazi tanks come across the border. What can he do?” I replied “not much”. That image helped me realize that I didn’t have much power to change events. Still using it today.

Wait till they’ve gone past and start resisting. Sabotage here, propaganda there, not turning over all his crop; yes, that’s the dangerous path and afterwards many more will claim to have done it than ever fired a shot. But even that farmer has things he can do in the long run.
